Like its CM1 mini-monitor sibling, the CM Centre speaker borrows design
and development features from the 800 Series 805S and similarly shares
that model’s remarkable musical ability, a key aspect of the CM Centre.
While it undoubtedly plays the AV centre channel role to perfection,
the CM Centre also extends the CM1’s emphasis on accurate, dynamic and
revealing music reproduction. Working together, the CM Centre and CM1
have few equals when it comes to compact multi-channel systems that
make music as adeptly as they reproduce home theatre audio.
The CM Centre’s symmetrically arranged driver line-up of twin Kevlar®
cone bass/midrange units and a Nautilus™ tube-loaded aluminium tweeter
are integrated by a minimalist, ear-tuned, first order network made
possible by the remarkably wide bandwidth of the drivers. The CM Centre
makes music as a seamless, cohesive whole, and displays a striking
ability to resolve fine detail.
Home theatre centre channel speakers need surprising reserves of low
frequency power and bandwidth, despite its compact size the CM Centre
delivers on both. Flowport™ technology to minimise turbulence, and twin
bass drivers featuring magnet system technology that reduces
distortion, mean that CMC bass is deep, fast, tuneful and always ready
to give more. An optional port sleeve that modifies the low frequency
response shape allows positioning of the speaker right up close to
walls without compromise.
The CM Centre’s cabinet is a classically manufactured and exquisitely
veneered expression of the cabinet makers’ art and provides a visually
understated and mechanically rigid enclosure for the drivers. Real wood
finishes in Wenge, Rosenut and Maple are available. And removing the
magnetically attached black or dark grey fabric grille to view the
drivers reveals no unsightly grille mounting features. Shelf, wall
bracket or furniture mounting is perfectly feasible for the CM Centre
but a matching floor-stand, the FS/CM 700, is available and provides
optimal performance. |
