| The CT8 DS Surround Speaker solves an inherent riddle of home theatre; sometimes dipole surround dispersion works best, and sometimes monopole. The solution is two speakers in one, so the CT8 DS can morph from monopole to dipole and back again - a surround speaker that changes its spots. The trick is possible thanks to alternate midrange and tweeter driver line-ups. Along with forward facing Kevlar® FST™ midrange and metal dome high frequency drivers, the CT8 DS also carries side facing arrays of wide bandwidth Kevlar® midrange/high frequency drivers.
The CT8 XO active crossover/equaliser provides all the necessary filtering and control functions. In dipole mode, the CT8 DS creates a diffuse sound field that more accurately re-creates the character of a full-size movie theatre. In monopole mode, the soundfield is less diffuse but surround image placement is more focused. Take your pick. The CT8 DS enclosure is Matrix™ braced and with twin Rohacell® bass drivers provides bandwidth down to 26Hz - in either dispersion format.
