Sound Processors (preamplifier)
What are Sound Processors (preamplifier)?
A sound processor precedes another amplifier to prepare an electronic signal for further amplification. The preamplifier circuitry may or may not be housed as a separate component.
The function of a sound processor is to amplify a low-level signal to line-level. A Sound processor provides voltage gain. These are often found in combination with an Audio or Audio/Video PROCESSOR, which contains the hardware and software for formatting the analog or digital information(audio and/or video) for proper playback. The decoders for the numerous digital signals are found in this component.
